On January 6th, Launchpool was excited to host Tomas Rey — Founder of GPT Wars, for an interactive Ask-Me-Anything session with the Launchpool community.
This session gave the Launchpool community exclusive insights into the project, its roadmap, and its vision for transforming gaming and blockchain integration. The session lasted approximately 30 minutes and consisted of questions from the Launchpool Team as well as questions from the Community.

Hello and Welcome to all LPOOLers,
As many in our Community already know, today we have an AMA session with Tom, Founder of GPT Wars — an innovative AAA shooter game powered by blockchain technology.
As always, the chat will be muted for roughly 30mins whilst we ask the pre-prepared questions. After this, we will open up to questions from the Community for another 15 mins. We will enable “Slow Mode” for questions.

Tom: Hello everyone! It’s a pleasure to be here.
Jean-Marc: Please tell us a bit about yourself and your background in the space?
Tom: I’m Tomas Rey, the founder of GPT Wars and CEO of Tango Labs. I’ve been in the blockchain industry for over five years, leading multidisciplinary teams and launching successful crypto projects. I’ve also served as an advisor for NASDAQ-listed companies.
Through that time, I was able to create and bring more than $100m in real value both in TVL for protocols and fundraising.
It’s been 9 months in the making and, in essence, GPT Wars is a culmination of my passion for gaming and blockchain, combining these two worlds to create an immersive experience for players and investors alike. So we’re really excited to be working on this — specially now that AI is booming.

Can you tell us more about the rest of the team?
Tom: Yes, of course. We’re a team of 28 passionate individuals working out of the Americas.
The leadership team includes experienced professionals with expertise in Web3, blockchain development, creative content production, and marketing strategy, along with deep knowledge of gaming and FPS genre games.
I think we are able to combine both Gaming and Crypto knowledge in a really powerful way, which ultimately will allow us to succeed on both fronts — Token economy and player engagement on the game itself.
Jean-Marc: What problem are you trying to solve? What is the overall vision for the GPT Wars project?
Tom: Sure, happy to answer that. Overall, we’re addressing these critical issues in blockchain gaming: high user acquisition costs, Web2 player adoption, and sustainable monetization.
Our vision is to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3 with AAA-quality gameplay that’s familiar to traditional gamers while leveraging blockchain’s capabilities to enhance engagement and rewards.
That’s #1.
On a second note, we are leveraging a lot of what Blockchain — and specifically crypto — has to offer in terms of finding a narrative fit, iterating on product use case, and innovating in multiple fronts like AI and recently AI Agents, areas which we have things currently developing.
Jean-Marc: That’s certainly an area that’s been lacking. Quality of gameplay between Web2 and Web3 does leave a lot to be desired

Jean-Marc: I’m interested in seeing how the AI component works, especially since the first game is based on an AI takeover.
Tom: Exactly right. Makes for an interesting narrative fit, IMO.
Jean-Marc: We know that the gaming industry in Web2 is huge, over US$200B annually. How are you differentiated from other similar projects that may occupy the Web3 space?
Tom: Great question,
It’s definitely challenging to find ways to differentiate from the competition. More than ever, it’s important to find unique selling points and add value in ways that are unique and innovative.
To summarize, GPT Wars stands out in several ways:
1. We focus on a Web2-first approach, ensuring a smooth user experience before layering in Web3 mechanics
2. Our game features AAA-quality graphics, built with Unreal Engine 5
3. We recently announced a rebranding and development shift towards Autonomous AI Players, which we denominated AIP
4. We’ve also integrated a deflationary token model, adding long-term value to our economy
The AIP integration is a huge development for GPT Wars. It would allow players to automatically train and model these agents to play for them. I’ve never seen tech like this be developed in the crypto space just yet.
Jean-Marc: I love this plan, especially that you’re built on Unreal Engine 5. While I do play pixelated games from time to time, I like to kick it up a notch with some AAA-gaming graphics! 🎮
Where are you at in your roadmap? What are the next steps for GPT Wars?
Tom: We have many in place regarding the product, and we are super excited about that.
Here’s a bit of info about it:
On a more short term note, we’ve recently been gearing up for our token generation event (TGE) on January 23rd, 2025.
Moving forward, our focus will be on expanding our user base, onboarding new partners, and refining the gameplay experience. We’re also planning several marketing and promotional campaigns around the TGE, with the Sei Foundation as an official backer and T1 Exchange listings, which we’ll announce closer to launch.
Jean-Marc: I’m excited to hear that you’re launching on January 23rd. I’m also glad to know that GPT Wars has the backing of the SEI Foundation.
Which leads me to my next question, how was the project funded up to this point, and how will funds from the Launchpool AME be used?
Tom: Happy to go over that.
Our funding has come from private investors, including
SEI Foundation and Maven Capital as crucial backers
The funds from the Launchpool sale will be used to enhance liquidity at launch, drive marketing campaigns, and accelerate development post-TGE.
Right now, apart from product development which is always ongoing, we are prioritizing having a successful TGE, setting up us for early success and a much more clear way forward product-wise once we’ve secured a strong token launch.

I’m curious, what made you choose Launchpool as your launchpad partner for the AME?
Tom: Well, it’s pretty simple. Launchpool has an established ecosystem and a strong community of investors who align well with our goals, and their support will help us reach a wider audience and create momentum leading up to our TGE.

Jean-Marc: What is the total allocation for the Launchpool community, and are there any limitations?
Tom: We’ve allocated a significant portion to the Launchpool community to ensure broad participation. Our focus is on inclusivity, though we will comply with any necessary regulatory exclusions for specific jurisdictions.
The total amount to be sold to Launchpool is $50k — with the capacity of extending if there’s huge interest 🙂
Jean-Marc: What happens after the AME? Can you talk us through the tokenomics?
Tom: Sure!
After the AME, our primary goal is to scale the ecosystem. The $GPTW token has a total supply of 1 billion, with only 80.1 million (8.01%) circulating at TGE, priced at $0.005. The tokenomics include a deflationary mechanism with buybacks and burns funded by in-game revenue, ensuring long-term value for holders.
On a strong point, FDV is really low at just $5m and Launchpool investors are getting in at 3.5m FDV, so they are already ripping the benefits.
Jean-Marc: Excellent, I like this.
What are the usecase for the token?
Tom: We aimed towards a sustainable token economy where a portion of the protocol revenue goes directly back to token economy.
Summarized:
1. Purchasing in-game assets like skins and items
2. Unlocking special game events
3. Staking for supporter nodes to earn a share of platform fees
4. Deflationary mechanics like buybacks and burns drive demand and value
The most important takeaway here is that we are not an inflationary/uncapped token, meaning we won’t introduce selling pressure through in-game rewards, instead, we will always funnel this through buy-backs we do via in-game profits.
That’s why it’s so important for us to not only capture Web3 users but — most importantly — Web2 players. They will be the ones who drive the economy forward.
Jean-Marc: That sounds great. I’m always looking for ways to support the projects I choose to invest into, so I like the idea of having the supporter node staking.
Tom: Yes, nodes are a great way to get a portion of the in-game profits while staking our token.

Question: I found on your roadmap for Q4 2024 there’s a free NFT drop to 5,000 users. Has this been achieved already and what region of the world is your target audience?
Tom: YES! We already conducted the NFT mint and it was sold out in just one hour. We are strongest in the SEA Region, as well as Eastern Europe and Americas
Question: Hello, great AMA. I noticed that you’re launching on the SEI network, my question is how do I collect the tokens I purchase on LPOOL when you launch?
Tom: Hi, thanks. You will be able to claim your tokens through a top-trusted claiming portal called magna.so that is used by companies like Immutable X for claiming as well as Sei themselves. So you should be covered in that sense.

Question: According to your roadmap, a beta version of the game has been released during Q3 2024 and V1 on Q4 2024, can you tell us how many players have been able to access it? Is it freely available to use right now?
